It has been pretty frantic around our house as it is around most everyone's this time of the year.

We have been trying to make some of the football games and the basketball games, working, and just everyday happenings as most of ya'll have.

Daddy had surgery again last Thursday, December 11, 2008 and had two more stints put in his heart. He is doing remarkably well. I told the Dr. that if he feels better now than what he did after the first stint I didn't know how we were going to stand him. All kidding aside we are very blessed that he is doing so well.

All of the kids and grandkids are anxiously awaiting the Christmas break. If you read Tammy's Blog you know they have been very busy and all need to rest.

LaShae has been very busy with her school work and clincal rotations. She is just really enjoying school. The other day she came home from visiting a friend and his parents at Big Lake, Texas with a new puppy. Her reasoning behind getting a new puppy is that Quilla was lonely. The new puppy is a miniature Austrian Sheperd. He is very cute BUT he is a puppy and all that goes along with the puppy stage.

Wendell and I got an invitation to go to Lubbock and here Bailey sing at her school last week. However we weren't able to go because it was the same time as Daddy's surgery. Bailey is a member of the Honor's Choir at her school and they were doing the Christmas program. I hope they will have another performance and I will be able to go to it. Bailey has several sheep on feed and getting ready to start showing them. I think her first show will be at Lubbock County. If the weather permits we will go and watch her. We missed her showing two years ago because of icy roads and I felt so bad about missing it. Mike reminded me that there would be other shows. But there want ever be another 1st County Show for Bailey and Nana and Pop missed it.

It is just a few days away from Christmas and we would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. As you travel our prayer is that the Lord will place His hedge of protection around you.

May God Bless you.

GOING HOME

This past weekend was a very difficult weekend for our family. On Saturday, September 13, 2008 we attended the funeral of my Dad's younger brother, Uncle Wayne. That day was also the 4th anniversary of the death of my nephew, Whit. With the passing of time it makes 9/13 a day that is easier to get through.

Uncle Wayne's service was very special. Some of the grandkids spoke about their relationship with Grandad and how special it was. Each grandchild had his/her own place in the heart of Granddad and each one was special. You just knew that everytime you went to see Bettye and Wayne memories were going to be made. Beth, the best daughter-in-law Uncle Wayne had,(according to her, of course she was the only daughter-in law) gave a very touching reinactment of her time as a "Wilson" and how she always stayed red-faced around Uncle Wayne. Of course if you turned red-faced around Uncle Wayne it just delighted him and he just kept on.

Listening to the kids talk about the times at Granny and Granddad's and the memories they will always have was so touching and you knew that everything they were saying was coming from the heart. Aunt Bettye and Uncle Wayne left an awesome legacy.

Aunt Bettye and Uncle Wayne always made you feel at home when ever you went to see them. Anytime you were around Uncle Wayne you never knew what to expect. I can still hear Aunt Bettye saying "Wayne Wilson", when he would get a little too ROWDY and when she spoke that tone Uncle Wayne knew he was in trouble. Of course it didn't stop him from picking on someone anyway.

As a grandparent I pray that my grandchildren will have good memories of coming to Nana and Pops house and know that our love for them is unconditional.

Uncle Wayne will be missed but he is home now with his love, Aunt Bettye and his savior Jesus Christ.

September 4, 2008

Summer is over. Fall is here and Wendell and I are preparing to start following the grandkids to all of their functions that we can possible make.

Tammy's family. Rheaden has his first PeeWee football game Saturday morning in Post. He is excited and we are excited for him. D'Nae is a varsity cheerleader again this year so we will be traveling to football games on Friday nights. Pop maybe watching the game but Nana will be watching the cheerleaders. Maegen is a first grader this year so she isn't involved in any sports YET. Of course she is pretty entertaining no matter what she is doing.

Mike's family. Bailey is involved in showing sheep (who would have thought that) and she has shown at a few summer jackpots. The South Plains Fair will be her next show and it is the end of this month. We are planning on going to watch her. She is a pretty good sheep shower. Kayla is 4 years old and she can't wait until she is old enough to show.

LaShae. LaShae is feeling better. While she was sick she missed 3 weeks of school and the Coordinator at the school gave her until 8/29/08 to do all of her make up work plus stay on top of everything else. God is good.---She completed all of her make up work and took her last make up test on 8/25/08. Wendell and I are so proud of her. It was a very stressful time for her because she still wasn't feeling good and was still in pain. She had alot to deal with but came through it well. We want to thank everyone that was praying for her during her illness. Take time to thank God for your family and know that He is there for you at all times. He is our strength when we are weak.

When our vision is clouded by circustances.....
GOD SEES CLEARLY
When our understanding is shadowed by questions......
GOD KNOWS PERFECTLY
When our path is shaded with uncertainty.....

TUESDAY, AUGUST 26, 2008

Well it has been quite awhile since I added anything to this BLOG. It seems our lives have been really busy yet I don't feel like I have acomplished anything.

After missing nearly 3 weeks of work while LaShae was in the hospital I have been trying to catch up on office work. I asked my boss if he would just fire me and he said "Sure just as soon as you get caught up". I think that is going to be a few years down the road.

LaShae is still having some pain issues and they are still running tests trying to pin point the problem. She is about to complete all of her make up work for missing school (deadline is 8/29/08) but it is difficult when you don't feel good. We try to encourage her to just get it done and turn it in. Do the best you can, anything is better than a -0-.

School is in full force for all the grandkids. I got to see Tammy's three kids yesterday after school and they seemed to all like school. Maegen (6 yrs old) came into our house last night after watching Rhaeden (11 yrs old) practice football and headed straight to the ice box. She was hungry. D'Nae (16 yrs old) came by the office and visited with me. She has a new basketball coach and she had to tell me all about it.

I talked to Mike's two kids on the phone and they each had a good day. Bailey's (10 yrs old) best friend was back at the same school and that was very unexpected. Kayla (4 yrs old) said she has a NEW best friend. But she couldn't remember her name.

My oldest daughter (39) has been ragging on me about updating my BLOG. Maybe I will do a better job than what I have been doing.

Not Home....

Well, they did the CT Scan this morning and found 2 abcesses in her abdomen. Oral antibiotics won't touch them so they have to treat them with IV antibiotics. They contacted the Surgeon and decided to do a needle aspiration to drain the abcesses. Mom just called and said the nurse told them they should be doing it in the next couple of hours. They will take her down to Radiology to perform the procedure.

At this point Her spirits are low !!! She is sooo tired of being sick and ready to go home. They thought she would be able to be home today...but...not yet. Will just have to see what tomorrow holds.

Home In Sight !!!

Well, Mom just called me and said that they took the drain tube out this afternoon. YEAH!!! The Infectious Disease Doctor said that they will do the CT Scan on Wednesday instead of Friday and if everything looks good on the CT Scan she MAY get to go home Sometime late Wednesday !!!

Update

I spent a couple of hours with LaShae yesterday and she seems to be recovering very nicely. Her color was a lot better and she is off of the oxygen and IV fluids. She still has the central line because they are still giving her pretty much round the clock antibiotics. Yesterday she got up and walked the whole length of the hall down to the elevator (she is in the last room of the hall.) So, that was good. She still is not eating much...food makes her nauseated and nothing smells good or tastes good but they do not seem to be worried about that at all after what she has been through. She is still in some pain and they are primarily controlling that with a pill. Yesterday she slept about 6 to 7 hours. At lunch she was nauseated so they brought her some phenergan and it knocked her out !!!! The nurse said next time they were only going to give her half !!!

Out of ICU !!!

LaShae got to go to a room around 6pm last night and get out of ICU !!! YEAH !!! Hopefully now she can get some rest. I talked to her this morning and she got to take a shower last night and she said she washed her hair like 5 or 6 times !!! I had to laugh. She said the shower was wonderful !!! She also got to try and eat "real" food...not liquids...and NOT chocolate pudding for breakfast...YUCK !!!

The results of the CT scan showed that she still had fluid on her abdomen and they will continue to watch that and make sure it doesn't turn into an abcess. Her white blood cells were elevated yesterday morning so they are doing a culture to see what is going on there. She is still having some trouble with her breathing but it is MUCH better. She is still on oxygen with the nasal cannula. She is also still having pain issues and now that she is not in ICU she has to wait a longer to get her pain meds when she calls for them. I think Mom is having a harder time dealing with that situation..ya know Mom's tend to be a little impatient when their children need something that will help them !!!

She had several visitors last night so the kids and I didn't go up. Maybe we can all go and see her tonight. Funny story...Maegen just couldn't understand why she couldn't go see LaShae when she was in ICU..and I was trying to explain it to a 6 year old that there are just too many really sick people and we didn't want her to get sick and she just wasn't old enough..well her response was with hands on hip: "When I'm 26 can I go see LaShae?" I just had to laugh...26....where in the world did she get that number from?

Update

LaShae didn't have a very good day yesterday. She is still in ICU. The Doctors called in a Pulmonologist because of her lack of breathing and he felt like she just had fluid on her lungs so he ordered Lasix and another X-Ray today so that he could compare the two and see if it is just fluid and if the Lasix was working. They took the X-Ray at 2am this morning. Her blood count was down again yesterday so they ordered another CT scan and 2 units of blood. Still not sure why her blood count is down and trying to figure that part out. They gave her 1 unit of blood yesterday and will give her 1 unit today. They couldn't find a vein yesterday so they had to take her down and get a sub-clavian (Central Line) put in. After they got the sub-clavian in they were able to get her back on her meds. The Lasix seemed to help tremendously. They were able to wean her off of the rebreather oxygen mask to a regular mask and now she is using the nasal cannula. Mom and Dad said that she looked sooo much better last night at 8pm when they got to see her. We still don't have the results of the CT scan but maybe Mom and Dad can find something out when they get to see her at 10am this morning.

I talked to LaShae this morning and she sounded better. Exausted....but her voice sounded better. Her Surgeon had already been in and said he felt like she could get out of ICU and go to a room. They were waiting on the other 2 Doctors to release her to the floor. She is still on the nasal cannula and her oxygen level was at 91. Her heart rate is still elevated but it is better..it is about 110-113...which is way down from 160 !!! Her blood pressure looks good..so HOPEFULLY today is the day that things will turn around !!!

Update on LaShae

Just a quick update on LaShae. Her appendix ruptured the Doctors think sometime Wednesday. She was prepped for surgery around midnight on Saturday and got out of surgery around 2:20 am Sunday morning. Sunday afternoon she was in a room and her heart rate was sky high around 138 and her oxygen levels were 77...so they moved her to Surgical ICU. Visiting hours in ICU are 10am - 12 pm, 4pm - 6pm, and then 8pm - 10pm then no one can see her until 10 am the next morning. So...Mom and Dad have been staying at LaShae's house in Lubbock and visiting her when they can. In ICU they hooked up a pain pump so that she can administer her own pain medicine when needed and she has been on Oxygen the whole time. Mom called the hospital this morning before shift change and spoke to a nurse who was reading from her chart and said that her pulse rate was down to about 110 and her oxygen level was at 90 and that she would be (HOPEFULLY) moved to a room sometime today. Will try to update again when I know something !!

June 12, 2008

I am getting some flack from my oldest daughter concerning NO posting to our blog. So here goes.

Wendell and the mission team (comprised of 3 men and 3 women from our church) returned home on Monday, June 9, 2008 from Uraguay after being gone for nine days. Three days before the team left they received an email from the missionary in Uraguay that one of the young men that was a member of their team last year was killed that day. He was 20 years old and he was playing ball with the younger kids and he jumped a fence to go after the ball and got into some power lines and was killed instantly. The missionary informed the Post team that he had no idea what to tell them to prepare for when they arrive. But as always if you will just turn it over to the Lord and let Him do His work then everything will be alright. I believe with all my heart that God sent this team to Uraguay at this time to minister to these children and adults that were affected by the death of Pablo. And, they did. Lots of hugs. God is good--all the time.

The week was filled with total blessings for the team. They have already committed to go back next year. But how can you say no to young children that look up and ask "Will we see you next year?"

LaShae started to Covenant School of Surgical Technology on Monday June 2, 2008. She seems to be enjoying it alot. She has found a house in Lubbock to rent and as soon as the painter gets through repainting the house we will move her to Lubbock. She is anxious to get moved so she want have to drive back and forth from Post (and probably to get away from Mom and Dad).

While Wendell was gone I decided our bedroom needed repainting. So I stayed pretty busy also.

May 16, 2008

As all of you are aware, Tammy created this BLOG for us. Didn't she do a great job. I am so thankful for her willingness to do this for our family. But, just for clarification, she doesn't ALWAYS do what I ask her to do.

Wendell and I are very blessed to have 3 children and 5 grandchildren and 1 granddog. Wendell's parents live here in Post and we see them most everyday or at least talk to them. They are both fairly healthy for their age and we are thankful for that. Daddy lives in Vernon and we don't get to see him as much as we want but we are also thankful for his health. Of course he has a Wilson stubborn streak a mile long and when I think he needs to see a Doctor and he doesn't agree with me I get to see it.

Michael and Stacy live in Idalou. They have 2 children. Bailey is 9 years old and Kayla is 3 years old.

Mike and Tammy live in Post. They have 3 children. D'Nae is 16 years old, Rhaeden is 10 years old and Maegen is 5 years old.

LaShae lives in Post with us. She is 21 years old. She has been accepted to the Covenant School of Surgical Technology and will be starting school on June 2, 2008. LaShae's pride and joy is her 2 year old Daschund, Quilla.

Wendell will be leaving on June 1, 2008 for Uruguay on a foreign mission trip. I am asking for everyone's prayer for his and the team's safety as they prepare to deliver the word of our Lord and Savior to the people in Uruguay. The team is composed of 3 men and 3 women all members of the First Baptist Church here in Post. This will be Wendell's 5th foreign mission trip. Wendell has a strong passion for mission work. I haven't felt that God has called me to go to the foreign mission field but if He does then I will go with Wendell.

May the Lord bless you and keep you, may the Lord make His face to shine upon you, and be gracious to you; may the Lord lift up His favour upon you and give you His peace.
Numbers 6:24-26.

Tammy Created

Well, since my MOTHER won't post anything on here AND since I created this blog I guess I will just have to be the first person to write something !!!
